Seats were great at first balcony. Voices were completely drowned out by the music except in the quieter songs. The performers were excellent, set was creative and versatile, but overall, despite knowing the story, about 70% of the lyrics could not be heard above the cacophony of the music. It was a strain to try to follow along. Not recommended. They knew this was a problem on Tuesday, still a problem on Thursday. This was a must see for me as I used to listen to the record as a youngster.

LEAD GUITARIST WAS HOT
I was so excited about seeing this. I loved the original 50 years ago so it was hard not to compare everything. JC in a man bun was strange and the costumes were drab. I kept looking at the lead guitarist. I thought he was the best part of the show. The dancing looked more like contemporary styles, which is not my favourite. I think the role of JC would have been much better if he had come out with his hair down, wearing a white robe and sandals. It took me a while to get that he was JC. I thought the priests were the best part. Overall, really disappointing, except for the guitarist. He was amazing!!

VERY DISAPPOINTED
Didn’t have like the singing, in this revised version. The melodic songs seem to just be thrown and with not much passion and they did not seem to know what to do with the guitars. The dancing was spot on, but I do think it distracted from the musical. Was not wild about the set, and the ending was just nothing. This production missed the mark.

DISAPPOINTED
Left with a screeching headache. Even my husband who loves hard rock said it was much too loud. The orchestra drowned out the singers and made it very hard to understand what they were saying. We were on the first balcony I can't even imagine how loud it was for the people sitting closer. Wonder if they even did pre-show sound checks. Too bad, was really looking forward to this show but just couldn't enjoy it

JESUS CHRIST
Terrible rendition. The actors were not engaging or believable- they seemed bored. The dancers looked like minions. Couldn’t understand anything because the actors were just screeching. It didn’t even have the same ending as Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote. Don’t waste your money.

DISAPPOINTING
For those of us who knows the music, this was very, very disappointing. They shortened so many of the songs, especially at the first part of the show. So many lost opportunities! And the sound system was not working very well, either, for the beginning of the show. The one dancer was often more annoying and distracting. I am amazed that Music Circus did a MUCH better job!

JUST A CONCERT, NOT A STORY
Saw this in Sacramento Feb 2023. Spectacular singers, musicianship seemed spot on. But could not make out the lyrics due to I assume sub par mics or system. Production hit 100 mph right out of the box and never slowed. Therefore I could not make out the story, who was who, relationships among characters or story arc. The direction and style choices and frantic pacing was a disservice to the amazing talent on stage. Would not recommend this version to anyone who is seeing it for the first time, as we were.
